New Delhi: The month of September is about to end, but the weather is once again taking a turn in many parts of the country. At some places it is raining heavily, while at other places thunder and strong winds have increased people's worries. Along with rain in hilly areas, there is also a danger of sudden floods and landslides. On September 28, the Meteorological Department has also issued warnings regarding rain, storm, lightning and strong winds in many states.
The south-west monsoon is now in retreat in India, yet the weather remains active in many areas. According to the Meteorological Department, on September 27, the withdrawal trough of monsoon reached the Arabian Sea through Gurdaspur, Chandigarh, Muzaffarnagar, Aligarh, Dholpur, Udaipur, Deesa and Naliya. Apart from this, the low pressure area formed over the northern part of Central Uttar Pradesh will move towards north-northwest in the next 12 hours and will gradually weaken. Due to this system, rainy season may continue in some parts of North India. At the same time, another low pressure area formed near southern coastal Myanmar may move towards North Andaman Sea, the effect of which will be visible in the form of rain in some parts of Eastern and North-Eastern India.
How will the weather be in Delhi-UP-Bihar?
The sky will be partly cloudy in Delhi-NCR on September 28 and there may be light drizzle in some areas. The maximum temperature here can be around 31 and minimum 20 degrees Celsius, while on September 29, the sky is likely to remain relatively clear and there is a possibility of a slight increase in the temperature. After the heavy rains in Uttar Pradesh for the last few days, there are gradually signs of relief. There is no alert of heavy rain anywhere in the state on September 28, but the weather system in the northern part of Central Uttar Pradesh is not completely over, so rain and thundershowers may continue in some areas. It is noteworthy that on September 27, there was extremely heavy rain in eastern Uttar Pradesh, where some areas received 30 cm or more rainfall, and due to continuous rain, there was waterlogging at many places. There may be rain and thundershowers in many areas in Bihar from September 28 to October 1, although no alert of heavy rain has been issued at present.
Danger of floods and landslides in the mountains
There may be heavy rain at isolated places in Uttarakhand on September 28, and there is also a possibility of thunder and lightning in some parts. There is a danger of flash flood in some areas of Uttarkashi, Dehradun, Tehri Garhwal, Chamoli and Rudraprayag in the next 24 hours. There is also a possibility of rain and thundershowers in areas like Kinnaur, Shimla and Sirmaur of Himachal Pradesh, where the risk of landslides and road closure may increase in case of heavy rain. Apart from this, there may also be rain and thundershowers in Punjab, Haryana and some parts of North-West India. On September 27, very heavy rainfall ranging from 12 to 20 cm was recorded over Uttarakhand and western Uttar Pradesh.
Condition of Central and Western India
The rainy season is likely to continue in Madhya Pradesh from September 28. There may be rain in Western Madhya Pradesh from September 28 to 30, while in Eastern Madhya Pradesh from September 28 to October 1, there is also a possibility of lightning at some places. Rain and thunderstorm activities can also be seen in Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh. Talking about Western India, there may be rain in some parts of Gujarat, Konkan-Goa and Central Maharashtra, while rain is also expected in Marathwada. Strong winds can blow at a speed of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour in Central Maharashtra, whose gusts can reach up to 50 kilometers per hour.
Rain in Northeast and South India also
The weather is expected to be active in many northeastern states on September 28. There may be rain at many places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. Strong winds with a speed of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour may occur in Assam and Meghalaya during September 28 to 30, with maximum speed reaching 60 kilometers per hour. In South India too, rain is expected at isolated places in Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, North Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal. Along with these states, there is also a possibility of thunder, lightning and strong winds in some parts of Telangana. Heavy rain may occur over South Interior Karnataka between September 28 and October 1, while over Kerala and Mahe, rain may continue till September 30 and activity is likely to increase from October 1.
Warning issued for fishermen
The Meteorological Department has also issued a warning for marine areas. In the Arabian Sea, sea conditions may remain rough over areas along Somalia coast and parts of south-west Arabian Sea till September 29. There is a possibility of worsening sea condition in the North Andaman Sea in the Bay of Bengal, Myanmar and around the Bangladesh coast. In such a situation, fishermen must check the latest warnings from the Meteorological Department before going to the affected areas.
