New Delhi: Monsoon has once again become active in many parts of the country. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rains in 17 states including Delhi-NCR on September 5. Incessant rains in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar have created flood-like conditions in many areas, while in Uttarakhand, Chardham Yatra has been banned due to bad weather.
How will the weather be in Delhi-NCR today?
It has been raining in Delhi-NCR since Friday. The weather department has warned of heavy rain on Saturday also. There is a possibility of heavy rain in Delhi along with Noida, Ghaziabad and Gurugram. Due to rain, waterlogging may occur in many areas.
The temperature of Delhi-NCR has dropped due to rain and people have got relief from the humid heat. However, people have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rains.
Flood like situation in UP-Bihar
Continuous rains in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar have increased the problems. The water level of many rivers including Ganga is rising rapidly. Flood situation persists in many districts of Bihar and people are being evacuated to safe places.
Many rivers including Ganga, Gandak and Kosi are flowing above the danger mark. There is concern about the rising water level of rivers in Chitrakoot, Prayagraj and Varanasi of Uttar Pradesh.
Chardham Yatra postponed in Uttarakhand
Due to heavy rains in Uttarakhand, incidents of landslides have been reported at many places. Traffic on Badrinath National Highway has also been affected. In view of bad weather, Chardham Yatra has been temporarily stopped.
There is an alert of heavy rain in many areas including Chamoli, Champawat, Bageshwar, Rudraprayag, Dehradun and Haridwar. The Yatra has been postponed in Kedarnath area also due to bad weather.

IMD has predicted heavy rains in many states including Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Telangana and Assam.
According to the Meteorological Department, due to the pressure in the Bay of Bengal and active monsoon trough, the rainy season may continue. There is a possibility of bad weather in many states between 5th and 7th September.
