Weather of 16th July: Maha-alert of rain on Rath Yatra, there will be torrential rain in these areas
New Delhi: India Meteorological Department IMD has warned of heavy rain in many states for tomorrow, Thursday, July 16. The low pressure area formed in the Bay of Bengal will now intensify the monsoon. For this reason, the threat of heavenly disaster is also looming on the Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath in Odisha.
Red warning on Rath Yatra in Odisha
IMD has issued ‘Red Warning’ for Odisha. According to the department, a low pressure area formed near the northern Odisha-West Bengal coast at 5.30 am on Wednesday. In the next 2 days, it will move towards North Odisha and Ganga plains.
Due to its effect, heavy to very heavy rain may occur at many places in Odisha on 16th and 17th July. Puri has already recorded 143.8 mm rainfall. Areas like Grand Road are flooded. The administration has asked the devotees not to stay under trees or temporary tents in case of lightning.
Heavy rain expected in these states tomorrow
According to IMD, due to low pressure, there may be very heavy rain at some places in Gangetic West Bengal tomorrow. There will be very heavy rain in Arunachal Pradesh in the Northeast. There are chances of heavy rains in many parts of Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on July 16.
Heavy rain may occur at some places in Bihar, Jharkhand, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. There is a possibility of heavy rain in Chhattisgarh also on July 16. IMD said that 7-11 cm rainfall in Bihar-Jharkhand may continue till July 17 and 21.
Condition of hilly and western states
There may be heavy rain at some places in North-West India and hilly areas of Uttarakhand tomorrow. There will be scattered rain at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. There will be widespread rainfall over Konkan and Goa in West and South India. There are chances of rain in some areas of Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka.
Heat and humidity in Delhi-NCR
There was light rain in Delhi early on Wednesday, but there was no relief. IMD said that the maximum temperature on Thursday may go from 37°C to 39°C, which is 3-5 degrees above normal. It will be cloudy throughout the day and there is a possibility of very light rain. Humidity will remain.
Also, heat wave conditions may prevail in parts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema and Tamil Nadu tomorrow. Overall, the severe form of monsoon will be seen in East and North-East India, while there is no respite from the heat in North India at the moment.
