West Asia crisis: PM Modi appeals for the second time to use less petrol and diesel and not to buy gold.
Said- Adopt the Covid-period system of working from home and also limit foreign travel.
Vadodara. Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed to people to reduce fuel consumption, use public transport and electric vehicles more and postpone the purchase of gold for some time in view of the global disruptions caused by the West Asia crisis.
Addressing the gathering after inaugurating the “Sardar Dham Hostel” built by the Patel community in Vadodara, the Prime Minister urged people to adopt the Covid-time arrangement of working from home wherever possible and also limit foreign travel.
The Prime Minister said, “The crisis in West Asia is one of the most serious crises in this decade. Just as we overcame the Covid-19 pandemic, we will come out of this too.” Modi also said that whenever the country faced a war or a major crisis, the citizens always fulfilled their responsibilities.
Addressing the gathering, he said, whenever India has faced war or any major crisis, citizens have discharged their responsibilities at the appeal of the government; Even today we have to do the same. He said that India is heavily dependent on West Asia for oil and LPG, hence it is necessary to reduce imports and avoid unnecessary expenditure of foreign exchange.
Modi said, we should make every effort to reduce the use of imported products and avoid personal activities that spend foreign exchange. He requested people to reduce fuel consumption and use public transport or electric vehicles.
In view of the current global situation, the Prime Minister appealed to the citizens to postpone the purchase of gold, as a large amount of foreign exchange is spent on importing gold. Modi, while addressing a program in Telangana on Sunday, had also appealed to cut expenses in view of the West Asia crisis.
