Why have fuel prices increased in recent times?
In the last month of May and August, a continuous increase in the prices of petrol and diesel was seen. There was a significant increase in prices on May 15, May 23, May 25 and August 26, but fuel prices fell on August 29. On the rising fuel prices and the global market situation, Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri had clarified that the price of crude oil in the international market has jumped from $ 64-65 per barrel to about $ 115 per barrel. Due to this sharp rise in crude oil prices and under-recovery, oil marketing companies were facing losses of about Rs 1,000 crore daily.
