Wheels of trains will stop at Kanpur Central on June 21
Kanpur. After about six years, such a scene will once again be seen at Kanpur Central Railway Station, when not a single train will run from the station for 24 hours. Train movement at Kanpur Central Railway Station will be completely closed on 21st June 2026. The reason for this is not the lockdown, but the interlocking work done by the Railways.
According to the information, no train will operate from Kanpur Central for the next 24 hours from the morning of 21st June. During this period, important interlocking work will be done at the station. Due to this, trains passing through Kanpur Central will be diverted and operated from Govindpuri and Chandari stations.
According to railway officials, before interlocking, pre and non-interlocking work will also be done from June 11 to June 20. For this, permission has been sought from the Railway Board.
Railways says that after the completion of this work, the signal system of the station will become completely computer based, which will reduce problems like signal failure in future and the operation of trains will be more smooth.
It is noteworthy that Kanpur Central is among the busiest railway stations in the country. About 300 trains pass through here every day and one to one and a half lakh passengers travel daily.
According to Amit Kumar Singh, Public Relations Officer of North Central Railway, the proposal has been sent to the Railway Board. After getting the approval, trains on Delhi-Howrah route will be operated via Govindpuri-Chandari, while trains going from Delhi to Lucknow are being prepared to be sent via Ghaziabad-Moradabad route.
The Railway Administration has appealed to the passengers to check the status of their train before travelling, so that any kind of inconvenience can be avoided.
