Unnao. Amidst the continuous rains, a waterlogging situation occurred near Bashiratganj Interchange of Ganga Expressway in Unnao. The water was so filled that in a video surfaced on social media, some people were seen catching fish by casting nets. The matter came into discussion after the video went viral. However, the identity of the people seen in the video and its timing could not be independently confirmed.
Water accumulated around interchange
Due to heavy rains, water accumulated at the Unnao interchange of Ganga Expressway and the road leading to the industrial corridor. The speed of vehicles was also affected in the waterlogged area. People faced problems in movement due to accumulation of water on the road in one part.
In the viral video, some people were seen casting nets in the water. After the video surfaced on social media, various reactions emerged regarding it. Keeping security in mind, the police removed people from the waterlogged area.

To reduce waterlogging, efforts were made by the executing agency to drain the water. The work of pumping out water continued with the help of pumps and other resources. According to officials, the situation was caused by excessive rains and a vigil was being maintained on the expressway.
According to the project management, traffic remained normal on the main expressway and waterlogging was limited to one ramp. A permanent solution is being worked out to overcome the technical problem related to drainage and construction in the concerned area.
Akhilesh Yadav took a jibe at the government
After the video of waterlogging on Ganga Expressway surfaced, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav targeted the Uttar Pradesh government on social media. Questioning the government's arrangements regarding waterlogging, he took a dig at changing the name of Ganga Expressway to 'Ganga Express Waterway'.
In his statement, Akhilesh Yadav blamed the failure of the drainage system for waterlogging in cities and corruption on the BJP government. These are his political allegations.
