New Delhi: In Sanatan tradition, Ekadashi of Shravan month has been accepted as having special religious and spiritual significance. This Ekadashi falling in Shravan Shukla Paksha is known as 'Shravan Putrada Ekadashi'. It is believed that by observing a fast on this day and worshiping Lord Shri Hari Vishnu, the seeker gets freedom from all the sins committed knowingly or unknowingly and happiness, peace and prosperity come in his life. Since the entire month of Sawan is dedicated to Lord Shiva and Ekadashi date is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, the protector of the world, hence this auspicious occasion is considered very good to get the blessings of both Hari and Har together.
Shravan Putrada Ekadashi fast will be observed on 23rd August
This year, the Ekadashi date of Shravan Shukla Paksha is starting from 02:00 am on 23rd August 2026, which will end at 04:18 am on 23rd August itself. In the scriptures, the importance of sunrise time is considered paramount.
Based on this principle, it would be best to observe the fast of Shravan Putrada Ekadashi on 23 August 2026, Sunday only. By regularly observing fast on the day of Ekadashi, wandering of the mind ends and mental restlessness is controlled.
Auspicious time for worship and parana
On the day of Shravan Putrada Ekadashi, many auspicious times are being formed for worshiping Lord Vishnu and Shri Krishna. Brahma Muhurta, which is considered best for worshiping God in the morning, will be from 04:26 am to 05:10 am. After this, the main auspicious time of Vishnu worship will start from 07:23 am in the morning and will continue till 12:24 pm. In the midday period, Abhijit Muhurta will be from 11:58 am to 12:49 pm, which is considered best for any kind of religious practice and resolution. Talking about breaking the fast on the next day, the devotees will be able to break their fast on 24th August 2026. The auspicious time for breaking the fast on this day is fixed between 07:19 am to 09:43 am.
This holy fast removes obstacles related to children.
In astrological and religious texts, Shravan Putrada Ekadashi has been specially given the status of Santandayini Ekadashi. This fast proves to be very fruitful for those couples who are facing obstacles in conceiving a child or whose child is facing some problem or defect in his life. On this day, devotees take a pledge to fast in two ways. One is water fast and the other is fruit or water fast. If a childless couple worships Lord Narayana or Bal Gopal Shri Krishna with full devotion on this auspicious date, their wishes are soon fulfilled. This auspicious occasion is considered very auspicious to get the blessings of both Hari and Hara together.
