New Delhi. Political reactions have emerged in India too after President Donald Trump's Republican Party suffered a setback in the US mid-term elections. Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijit Deepke made a sarcastic comment on Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar regarding this result. He wrote on social media that if Gyanesh Kumar had been conducting elections in America, this would never have happened to Trump.
Election Commission targeted through social media posts
Abhijeet Deepke wrote on social media platform X on November 4, 'Gyanesh Kumar would never have allowed this to happen to Trump.' His comment is being seen as a sarcasm on India's electoral system and the functioning of the Election Commission in the name of American election results.
Deepke and his party have earlier also been raising questions on Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. They allege that the ruling BJP is given advantage in the Indian election process. However, these are political allegations and the Election Commission has given its own arguments regarding the electoral process.
Claim to vote against politics of hatred
Deepke said in another post that people are voting against the politics of hate and in favor of accountability, employment and affordable living. Through this comment, he tried to link the results of the American elections with the preferences of common voters.
Ashutosh Ranka, associated with CJP, also reacted to the results of the US elections. He made comments on social media mentioning Brazil, Serbia and the United States, which were seen as an electoral challenge to strong leadership politics in different parts of the world.
Questions raised on the politics of a strong leader
In his third comment, Deepke said that after 2010, politics got promoted in many countries of the world on the basis of the image of a strong leader. According to him, voters are now understanding that concentration of power in the hands of one person does not necessarily make the country strong.
He stressed the importance of democratic freedoms, accountability and institutions. This comment was also part of his political response to the US election results.
Why did Trump's party suffer a setback?
In the mid-term elections held on November 3 in America, the Democratic Party gained a significant lead against the Republican Party. The election results have increased political challenges for the Trump administration. The establishment of control of the Democratic Party in both houses of Congress may also affect the President's legislative agenda.
Trump, reacting to the election results, claimed that if his name had also been on the ballot, the Republican Party would have won with an overwhelming majority. He also said that he wants to analyze the election results.
Deepke's taunt is related to India's SIR controversy
Opposition parties are continuously raising questions on the Election Commission regarding Special Intensive Review (SIR) in India. The opposition alleges that there is a danger of names of eligible voters being removed during this process. The Election Commission has defended the process, saying that its objective is to remove duplication and ineligible entries from the voter list.
In the background of this controversy, Abhijeet Deepke commented by linking the American election results to Gyanesh Kumar. His sarcasm has now become a part of the ongoing political debate regarding the Election Commission of India and electoral fairness.
