Where was the donation amount of Rs 3,264 crore for Ram Temple spent? Trust gave full account
Amid allegations of theft regarding offerings in Ayodhya Ram temple of Uttar Pradesh, Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has for the first time put before the people the complete account of its earnings and expenses. According to the Trust, since its formation in the year 2020, it has received a total of offerings and donations worth Rs 3,264 crore. Out of this, Rs 2,370 crore has been spent on the construction of the temple and other important construction works.
The trust said that out of Rs 582 crore received from the offerings of devotees, Rs 391 crore has been spent on the operation, maintenance and other necessary administrative works of the temple. The remaining amount has been kept safe in bank accounts. The Trust says that complete accounting of every penny is maintained and its information is also shared with the people from time to time.

Silver bar made for donation of silver
The Trust said that all the silver items donated by the devotees have been melted in the Government Mint and converted into silver bars. Photographs of the entire process, weight of silver and certificates of its purity have also been preserved. According to the Trust, a total of 2,916 gifts have been received so far. A complete record of each gift is recorded in the register with the name of the donor and the date. Not only this, physical verification of all these gifts is also done every year by an independent chartered accountancy firm.
The Trust has started a new system to increase transparency. The Trust says that devotees who donate cash or any other gift can come to Ayodhya with prior permission and see where and how their donation was used. The Trust believes that this step will further strengthen people’s confidence in the donation process.

SIT investigation continues, Trust appeals for restraint
Recently, after allegations of rigging in counting of offerings surfaced, the Uttar Pradesh government had formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the matter. According to the investigating agencies, there is a possibility of irregularities of Rs 6 to 8 lakh per day during the counting. So far eight people have been arrested in this case and cash, foreign currency and gold and silver jewelery have been recovered from them. The government has given time to the SIT till July 15 to submit the final report. At the same time, the Trust has said that it would not be appropriate to reach any conclusion before the investigation is completed and the court process ends.
