The government is continuously taking action and making changes regarding the NEET paper leak controversy. Earlier, Prahlad Joshi was made the Education Minister in place of Dharmendra Pradhan. After which the students’ protest at Jantar Mantar also ended, now the Central Government has made major administrative changes in the Higher Education Department. Senior IAS officer Deepti Gaur Mukherjee has been appointed as the new Higher Education Secretary of the country. Before him, Naresh Pal Gangwar was handling this responsibility.
Deepti Gaur was currently working as Secretary in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. In an order issued by the Personnel Ministry late on Monday night, it was said that the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has partially amended its order of July 23 and approved the appointment of Deepti Mukherjee as Secretary of the Higher Education Department.
Who is Deepti Gaur Mukherjee?
Deepti Gaur Mukherjee is a 1993 batch IAS officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre. He was born on 3 February 1969 in Uttar Pradesh. He has done MA in Economics from JNU New Delhi. Apart from this, he has obtained MSc degree in Public Management and Governance from London School of Economics. Deepti has also worked as Additional Secretary in the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Before assuming the new responsibility of the Higher Education Department, she was working as Secretary in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. Considering his experience at the administrative level, he has been entrusted with the important responsibility of the Higher Education Department. As per the order of the Ministry of Personnel, ACC has approved his appointment.

This change in the Higher Education Department has happened at a time when there is continuous discussion in the country regarding NEET paper leak and controversies related to the examination system. The Higher Education Department faces many important issues related to higher education institutions, entrance examinations and examination system. In such a situation, the appointment of Deepti Gaur Mukherjee is being considered important from the administrative point of view. He will have the challenge of handling various matters related to the department as well as issues related to transparency and administrative coordination in the higher education system.
Who got the responsibility in place of Deepti Gaur?
As part of the administrative reshuffle, Pallavi Jain Govil, Secretary of the Department of Youth Affairs, has been appointed as the new Secretary of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. She will now take charge of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs in place of Deepti Gaur Mukherjee. With this change, there has been a reshuffle in the responsibilities of senior officers in many important departments of the Central Government.
