Who is Sashidhar Jagdishan: HDFC Bank’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Shashidhar Jagadishan has decided not to seek re-appointment as MD and CEO of the bank. The company said in its BSE filing on Saturday that he will retire from the bank on October 26, 2026. According to HDFC Bank’s stock exchange filing, Jagadishan had informed the bank about his decision on August 29. The bank’s board took note of his decision in the meeting held on the same day.
HDFC Bank said in its filing that despite persuasion, Jagadishan reiterated his decision not to seek re-appointment. He will retire from the service of the bank at the end of working hours on October 26, 2026. Additionally, the HDFC Bank board said it will expedite the process of selecting and appointing Jagadeesan’s replacement.

Presently Shashidhar Jagadishan is the Managing Director (MD) and CEO of HDFC Bank. Who will retire on October 26, 2026. The company has given this information in its BSE filing on Saturday. Shashidhar took over this post in 2020. He was appointed in place of Aditya Puri. If we talk about his education, he has graduated in Physics from Mumbai University. Lilavati Kirtilal Mehta Medical Trust i.e. LKMMT (run by the Mehta family) had made serious allegations of financial fraud and misuse of trust funds against a total of 8 people including Shashidhar Jagadishan and some former officials of the bank. However, later the Bombay High Court, giving him a big relief, canceled the bribery FIR of Rs 2 crore registered against him. This FIR was registered on the complaint of ‘Lilavati Kirtilal Mehta Medical Trust’, which manages Lilavati Hospital in Bandra (West). The court had called it a complaint made with bad intentions.
