Why did Sonam Wangchuk stay away from CJP protest?
A demonstration was announced by CJP at Delhi's Jantar Mantar demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. There was a lot of discussion about Sonam Wangchuk's participation in this. Recently he made it clear through video message that he will not be able to reach Delhi. Wangchuk also said that at present he is busy preparing for the coming winter in Ladakh. Let us tell you that his work includes experiments in creating artificial glaciers for water security and dealing with the threat of GLOF i.e. Glacial Lake Outburst Flood. He also expressed concern about the more than 200 potentially dangerous water sources present in the high Himalayas.
'Will continue to work for the security of the country'
Wangchuk said in one of his video messages that despite the government's efforts to hinder and harm his work, he will continue to work for the security of the country. He also appealed to the CJP leaders to remain united and the youth to protest peacefully under any circumstances. Quoting the famous lines of Faiz Ahmed Faiz in his message, he said that apart from politics, there are many other important works. While wishing the protesters all the best, he also appealed to follow Gandhi's path of non-violence.

Sonam Wangchuk's distance from the CJP's movement has been projected not as a protest against the protest, but as a matter of prioritizing her ongoing water-security and winter-related work in Ladakh.
