Why the Silence? Activist Arif Aajakia Slams Global Apathy on Pahalgam Terror Attack Anniversary:

As the world marks another year since the tragic Pahalgam terror attack, prominent human rights activist Arif Aajakia has raised uncomfortable questions regarding the international community’s “deafening silence” over the pain of victims’ families.

A Heart-Wrenching Remembrance

The anniversary of the Pahalgam attack remains a somber reminder of the lives lost to mindless violence. Arif Aajakia, known for his bold stance against terrorism, emphasized that while global leaders often speak about human rights, the victims of terror in Jammu and Kashmir are frequently overlooked. He noted that for the families left behind, the passage of time hasn’t healed the “unhealed wounds” caused by that fateful day.

Slamming the Masterminds Behind the Terror

During his address, Aajakia did not hold back in pointing fingers at the neighboring state. He alleged that the terror infrastructure across the border continues to breed such tragedies. “If you grow snakes in your backyard, don’t expect them to only bite your neighbors,” Aajakia remarked, echoing his long-standing criticism of Pakistan’s alleged role in fostering proxy wars. He stated that the perpetrators were identified and targeted based on their identity, making it a “horrible act of terrorism committed in the name of religion.”

Questioning Global Double Standards

The activist questioned why major human rights organizations and global powers remain silent when it comes to Indian terror victims. He argued that the pain of a mother losing her son or a wife losing her husband in Pahalgam should resonate just as loudly as any other global conflict. This silence, according to him, emboldens terror groups to act with perceived impunity.

India’s Decisive Message and the Way Forward

Reflecting on the past year, Aajakia highlighted India’s proactive stance. He mentioned that India has sent a clear message: “We will not tolerate terrorism anymore.” While operations against terror modules continue, the activist urged the world to move beyond geopolitical interests and stand in solidarity with the innocent victims of the Pahalgam tragedy.
