Will DK Shivakumar become the new Chief Minister of Karnataka? Siddaramaiah will get big responsibility, change of leadership almost certain!
Bengaluru: When the Congress government was formed in Karnataka, a condition was set between Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar for the post of Chief Minister for two and a half years each. After three years, the way for change of leadership is almost clear.
It is being told that after talks with Rahul Gandhi, Siddaramaiah has agreed to leave power in the state and go to Rajya Sabha. However, the condition is that his choice will be given importance in other names of Cabinet and Rajya Sabha.
Marathon meeting of high command
According to media reports, the central leadership of Congress held a meeting with both the leaders first separately and then together. Initially Siddaramaiah was not ready. Earlier too, meetings had been held on this issue several times in the party, but Siddaramaiah did not agree.
Congress did not want to take any risk without his consent. The reason is clear, the number of MLAs supporting Siddaramaiah is more in the assembly. On Monday, both the leaders had reached Delhi with their supporting MLAs.
KC Venugopal’s statement
After the meeting, KC Venugopal told the media that the guess you are making is just a guess. Today we discussed Rajya Sabha seats and Legislative Council seats of Karnataka.
Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar were also present with him. Venugopal said that the candidates for Karnataka seats will be announced along with Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. Nothing else was discussed.
Sources claim- will resign soon
However, according to reliable sources, Siddaramaiah may resign in the next few days. Notification for Rajya Sabha elections will be issued on June 1 and the nomination process will begin. It is believed that DK Shivakumar will take oath as Chief Minister only when Siddaramaiah files nomination for Rajya Sabha.
Siddaramaiah will get a bigger role
It is noteworthy that the party high command does not want to upset Siddaramaiah. Therefore, there are preparations to give him big responsibility in national politics by sending him to Rajya Sabha. Also, his opinion will be given importance in cabinet expansion and remaining nominations. Through this, an attempt is being made to maintain the balance of power in Karnataka. After DK Shivakumar becoming the Chief Minister, new equations can be seen in Karnataka Congress.
