Will the UAE Join the War Against Iran? Issues Urgent Advisory for Its Citizens
New Delhi: The ongoing tensions in West Asia appear to be temporarily paused. A ceasefire is currently in place between Iran and the United States, and both sides are continuing talks over the phone. However, sharp rhetoric from both sides is creating uncertainty about how long this “peace” will last.
Amid these developments, a recent move by the United Arab Emirates has triggered fresh speculation. The UAE has imposed an immediate ban on its citizens traveling to Iran, Iraq, and Lebanon.
The UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced this decision via a post on X and also released an official statement. According to the ministry, the ban has been implemented in view of the current regional situation.
In addition, the UAE has issued an advisory urging its citizens who are already in Iran, Iraq, or Lebanon to return home immediately.
Before issuing this travel restriction, the UAE had also announced its exit from OPEC, a major group of oil-exporting nations. This move was seen as a setback for Iran.
Now, with the travel ban in place, discussions have intensified over whether the UAE might get involved in the conflict. It is worth noting that despite the ceasefire, verbal tensions between the US and Iran continue.
Meanwhile, Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, has firmly stated that Iran will not abandon its nuclear or missile programs under any circumstances. He described Iran’s scientific, technological, and military capabilities as essential to its national identity and sovereignty, and emphasized that the country will not bow to pressure from the United States.
