‘Will you give a guarantee in writing?’ Kejriwal will write a letter to companies on ethanol issue
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday talked about the problems of the public regarding mixing of ethanol in petrol. At the same time, he fiercely cornered the Modi government at the Center and the car-bike companies of the country regarding ethanol. He said that he will write a letter to the three major vehicle manufacturing companies of the country demanding that they assure the people of the country in writing that the use of E-20 petrol does not cause any harm to the vehicle engines nor does it reduce the mileage.
Former Delhi CM Kejriwal also said that he will write a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and tell him about the protests being made by the people regarding ethanol mixed petrol and will request that the use of this petrol be made optional.
Name of Maruti, Toyota and Hero taken
Addressing a press conference organized in Delhi, Kejriwal took the names of Maruti Suzuki, Toyota Kirloskar and Hero MotoCorp and alleged that the public statements of these companies do not match the information given in the ‘owner manual’ (user manual) of their vehicles.

‘I will write letters to these companies’
He said, ‘I will write letters to all these companies. I would tell them that something is written in your owner manual, but you are saying something else in public. You give an assurance in writing that if the mileage of your vehicle decreases by more than 10 percent, will you compensate the customer?
If use of E20 ethanol causes damage to the vehicle..
Kejriwal further said, ‘If the use of E-20 ethanol causes damage to the vehicle or its parts get damaged, will you bear the cost of replacing those parts?’ However, there has been no immediate response from the three vehicle companies in this regard.
Government is misleading people
AAP chief Kejriwal also alleged that the government was misleading people by saying that India was not the first country to adopt ethanol blended fuel. He said, ‘This is half true. In the countries where the example is being given, the quantity of ethanol blending is generally less than E-10. Normal vehicles can use a mixture up to E-10, but not more than that.

Direct blame on three big companies and government
Arvind Kejriwal directly alleged that the Central Government is forcefully imposing E20 petrol on the entire country despite strong opposition from crores of vehicle owners of the country. He said, ‘On July 3, the government pressured six big auto companies to hold a press conference to declare E20 safe. Maruti Suzuki, Toyota Kirloskar and Hero MotoCorp said that E20 is safe even in older vehicles and will reduce mileage by only 5–7%. But Toyota’s official owner’s manual only allows the use of up to E10 (10% ethanol). It is also written in the manual that if performance or mileage is affected even by E10, then switch back to E0 (0% ethanol) petrol.
He questioned that when the companies’ own documents set the limit for E10, then how is E20 being described as completely safe in the press conference?
