Young Indian tennis player Arnav Paparkar of Wimbledon has reached the quarter-finals. This 18 year old player Playing in boys singles. In the third round, he faced Japan’s Ryo Tabata. The Indian won the match easily 6-2, 6-2. In the second round, Arnav defeated third seeded American player Keaton Haynes.

It has been 36 years since reaching the quarter-finals of the Wimbledon boys’ singles. Before Arnav Papkar, the legendary Indian player Leander Paes achieved this feat in 1990. Paes won that tournament at the age of 17. Now, Marathmola Arnav Papkar will face American qualifier Jordan Lee in the quarterfinals.
Who is Arnav Papkar?
Marathmola Arnav Papkar is a tennis player from Pune and is currently ranked 19th in the ITF junior rankings. The 18-year-old, who stands over 6 feet tall, trains under coach Prosonjit Paul at the Hemant Bendre Tennis Academy. He also trains under coach Nigel Beavers at the Soto Academy in Spain. Arnav Paparkar’s first major success came in 2023, when he won the Australian Open Under-14 Asia-Pacific Elite Trophy in Melbourne.
Arnav’s career performance
Arnav Paparkar entered as a wildcard qualifier in 2023 and became the National Under-16 Champion. He made his ATP Challenger debut in 2024 on his 16th birthday. In 2025, he won his first major international junior titles at the ITF J60 Manama and J200 Kuala Lumpur in Bahrain. Earlier this year, he became the AITA Boys Under-18 National No. 1 and stayed at the top spot for 21 consecutive weeks. He reached the third round at the 2026 French Open Junior Championship.
