Wipro Delays On-Boarding Of 200 Freshers; NITES Approach Labor Commissioner

200+ Wipro Freshers Still Waiting

Wipro is facing scrutiny over the delayed onboarding of more than 200 students and young engineers selected through its Elite Hiring 2025 programme.

The Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES) has approached the Ministry of Labour and Employment, asking it to intervene and seek clarity from the IT major.

The candidates reportedly completed the recruitment and verification process but are still waiting for confirmed joining dates.

Candidates Received Offer Letters In 2025

According to NITES, the affected candidates participated in Wipro’s campus recruitment process in February 2025 and cleared the technical and voice assessments.

After completing the interview process, they received their Offer Letters in July 2025followed by Letters of Intent in August.

The candidates accepted the offers within the stipulated timeframe.

They later reconfirmed their interest in December 2025 and completed another technical assessment in March 2026.

Background Verification Also Completed

The candidates reportedly cleared Wipro’s Codility technical assessment in March 2026.

They then completed the company’s background verification process on March 26, 2026.

According to NITES, the Wipro portal subsequently showed the verification process as 100% complete, with the status marked “No Action Required.”

Despite completing the various stages required by the company, the candidates have allegedly not received definite onboarding dates.

NITES Approaches Labour Ministry

NITES has now asked Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya to take up the matter with Wipro.

The organisation wants the company to provide:

  • The current status of all affected candidates
  • Reasons for the onboarding delay
  • Confirmation that their Offer Letters and LOIs remain valid
  • A definite, time-bound onboarding schedule

NITES has also asked that candidates who will not ultimately be onboarded should be informed formally and given the reasons for the decision.

Months Of Uncertainty

The union claims that the candidates have repeatedly contacted Wipro’s HR teams, onboarding helpdesks and other designated channels over several months.

According to NITES, these efforts have not produced substantive clarity regarding when the candidates will actually join.

The prolonged wait has reportedly created financial and professional difficulties for several candidates, particularly those who may have turned down or avoided other opportunities while expecting to join Wipro.

Young Engineers Left In A Difficult Position

For fresh graduates, a confirmed job offer can determine major decisions involving further education, relocation, accommodation and other employment opportunities.

The uncertainty becomes particularly difficult when candidates have already completed multiple rounds of assessments and background verification.

NITES has argued that while companies have the right to make legitimate workforce decisions, candidates who have been selected and issued employment-related documents should not be left indefinitely without a clear decision.

Wipro Says Onboarding Is On Track

Wipro has responded to the issue, saying that it remains committed to onboarding freshers in line with its business requirements.

The company has also said that it will continue to keep candidates informed about further updates.

The response suggests that Wipro does not consider the hiring process abandoned, although the exact joining timeline for the affected candidates remains unclear.

Why This Matters For IT Freshers

The episode highlights a broader problem faced by India’s technology graduates: receiving an offer letter does not always mean immediate employment.

IT companies have increasingly adjusted hiring and onboarding timelines according to business demand, project pipelines and workforce requirements.

For students, however, a prolonged gap between selection and joining can create considerable uncertainty.

What Happens Next

The immediate focus is now on whether the Labour Ministry will seek a formal explanation from Wipro and whether the company will provide a clear onboarding schedule for the affected candidates.

For more than 200 young engineers who have already spent months waiting, the key question is simple: When will they actually join Wipro?

Summary

More than 200 students and young engineers selected by Wipro under its Elite Hiring 2025 programme are reportedly still waiting for onboarding dates. NITES has approached the Labour Ministry seeking intervention, clarity on the validity of their Offer Letters and LOIs, reasons for the delay and a time-bound joining schedule. The candidates reportedly completed assessments and background verification months ago. Wipro says it remains committed to onboarding freshers according to its business requirements.
