This situation has arisen due to heavy rains in different parts of Gurugram since morning and the administration has also come in alert mode. Keeping in mind the worsening situation and the safety of citizens, the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has issued an advisory and appealed for work from home.
The District Disaster Management Authority, in its advisory, has advised all corporate and government offices in the district to implement 'Work from Home' for their employees on August 25. At the same time, giving priority to the safety of school children, instructions have been given to schools and other educational institutions to conduct online classes.

Heavy waterlogging was witnessed on major thoroughfares and underpasses like Golf Course Road, Sohna Road, Rajiv Chowk, Subhash Chowk, and Delhi-Gurugram Expressway after torrential rains in Gurugram. Due to water logging, there was a traffic jam of several kilometers long, due to which the commuters going for work had to face for hours. Municipal corporations and civic agencies have had to immediately install drainage pumps. According to the report released by Gurugram district administration, 70 mm of rain was recorded in the city till 1:30 pm on Monday.

Due to heavy rains there has been a long traffic jam on the roads. At many places, the water level was so high that it became difficult to move vehicles. Many school buses also got stuck in the rain water and this increased the problems of children and parents. Long queues of vehicles were seen on the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway. Office going people were also seen stuck in traffic jams for hours and these conditions in the city have raised many questions.

What did the administration say?
According to District Deputy Commissioner Uttam Singh, the main objective of this advisory is to reduce traffic on the roads so that people do not get stuck in jams. He says that when there will be less vehicles on the roads, it will be easier for the Municipal Corporation and the disaster management team to eliminate waterlogging, clean clogged drains and repair damaged roads.
Gurugram is known as Cyber City and hundreds of private companies have offices here. Gurugram district administration has appealed to all private companies, IT hubs and government offices to allow employees to work from home so that any untoward incident can be avoided. Along with this, the district administration has appealed to government and private schools to conduct classes in online mode instead of physical mode so that children and staff do not have to come to school. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of more heavy rain in the next 24 to 48 hours. In such a situation, non-essential travel should be avoided and the administration is also appealing for the same.
