New Delhi: The upcoming high-level state summit being held in Washington will see a gathering of the world’s most influential tech giants. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon are expected to attend the state dinner hosted by US President Donald Trump in honor of Chinese President Xi Jinping. The presence of prominent faces of the tech industry in this historic meeting to be held at the White House on September 24 is a clear indication that the issue of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and advanced technology is going to be at the center of talks between the two superpowers.
Presence of veterans at the summit
An OpenAI spokesperson confirmed Sam Altman’s attendance. Altman recently said that if Trump and Xi Jinping reach a far-reaching agreement on artificial intelligence, they could be eligible for the Nobel Peace Prize.
Meanwhile, Qualcomm has confirmed the involvement of CEO Cristiano Amon. The conference is taking place at a time when there is a global debate on the rapid development of AI and security concerns.

There are clear differences of opinion between Sam Altman and Jensen Huang regarding the potential risks posed by advanced AI. Altman supported the idea of slowing down the pace of AI development and recommended the two top leaders set strict standards for building and testing advanced AI models. In contrast, Nvidia chief Jensen Huang considers fears of humanity’s destruction by AI to be exaggerated. Huang’s stance appears to be close to the skepticism expressed by Donald Trump over the destructive dangers of AI.
Nvidia’s China market share and historical context
The issue of AI chips is also likely to be very important in this summit. Jensen Huang has been continuously lobbying the White House and members of the US Congress to allow Nvidia to sell its advanced AI processors in the huge market of China. In such a situation, the presence of both the Presidents is being considered very important for their business interests. This is not the first time Trump has included tech executives in meetings with Xi Jinping; earlier in May also he had invited Jensen Huang to a group of 17 business leaders.
