Preparations for the fifth season of the Women's Premier League (WPL) have started. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has released the date of auction of players of WPL 2027 and the schedule of the tournament. The auction of the season will be held on October 28 at the Grand Hyatt, Kochi. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) first informed the five franchises on Wednesday, September 16 and later made its official announcement.
WPL 2027 will be held from 14 January to 7 February 2027. The five teams will have to decide on retaining and releasing their players by September 28. Each team can have a maximum of 18 players, while a maximum of six foreign players can be included in it. For the current cycle, the salary purse of each team has been fixed at Rs 15 crore.

Competitions may take place in Mumbai and Vadodara
BCCI has not yet officially announced the venues for the matches of WPL 2027. However, according to the available information, there is a possibility of matches being played in Mumbai and Vadodara. Mumbai's CCI and Vadodara's Kotambi Stadium are being considered as the designated grounds for the event.
The fourth season of WPL was also played on both these grounds. The final of the season was held on 5 February in Vadodara. In such a situation, the picture regarding these grounds for the next season is considered to be quite clear.

The picture of the teams will be clear after September 28
The five franchises have time till September 28 to retain or release their players. After this the auction will be held in Kochi on 28th October. In this, teams will be able to buy players as per their need. The current champion of WPL is Royal Challengers Bangalore. Next season, the team will face the challenge of defending its title.
