On Wednesday i.e. 16 September, BCCI announced the Tata Women's Premier League 2027. It was told that the 5th season will start from January 14, while the final match will be played on February 7. In the press release issued by the board, the deadline for issuing retention and release of players was also mentioned. It said that all 5 franchises will have to release the list of their released and retained players before September 28. Each team can have a maximum of 18 players, out of which a maximum of 6 foreign players can be included. Apart from this, it was said that the maximum salary of any player can be up to Rs 15 crore.

Complete history of WPL
The Women's Premier League was started in the year 2022. So far 4 seasons of this league have been played. In the first season, Mumbai Indians won the title, while in the second season, Royal Challengers Bangalore lifted the trophy by defeating Delhi Capitals. After this, Mumbai Indians won the title again in 2025, while RCB lifted the trophy again in the fourth season. In this way RCB and Mumbai Indians won the title 2-2 times. Interestingly, in these four seasons, Delhi Capitals reached the finals every time, but could not win the title even once.
