Yash Thakur, a domestic cricket star, became India’s new fast bowler and started his international journey by debuting against Zimbabwe.

New Delhi. India got a new fast bowler in the second T20 match against Zimbabwe when Vidarbha’s Yash Thakur made his international debut for the Indian team. This moment was not only the new beginning of a player’s career but also the result of years of hard work and consistent performance. Yash Thakur, who made his mark in domestic cricket on the basis of his fast pace, accurate line length and excellent bowling in the death overs, finally fulfilled his dream of wearing the blue jersey of the Indian team.

Born on 28 December 1998 in Kolkata, Yash Thakur represented Vidarbha in domestic cricket and from there he took his cricket career to new heights. Right from the beginning, he maintained discipline in his bowling and attracted the attention of the selectors by taking wickets consistently in every tournament. His performances in major domestic tournaments like Ranji Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy have put him in the list of emerging fast bowlers in the country.

Yash Thakur’s biggest strength is his accurate line length, effective use of slower balls and his ability to put pressure on the batsmen in the death overs. This was the reason why he got a chance to showcase his talent in IPL also. Playing for teams like Lucknow Super Giants and Punjab Kings, he took wickets on many important occasions and proved his usefulness. Consistent impressive performances in the IPL opened the doors of the Indian team for him.

The Indian selectors first included him in the India A team where he also bowled brilliantly on the Sri Lanka tour. Apart from taking five wickets in three matches of the tri-series, he also proved that he is fully ready to play at the big level by taking five wickets in the unofficial test matches against Sri Lanka A. He was rewarded for this performance by being selected in the Indian T20 team for the Zimbabwe tour and got the opportunity to wear his debut cap in the second T20 match.

  • Yash Thakur’s journey was not limited to cricket only but it is also a story of struggle and dedication. His father always wanted his son to play for India one day and now Yash has made that dream come true by taking the field for Team India. This achievement is also an inspiration for all the young players who dream of reaching the international stage from domestic cricket.

If we look at his cricket record, Yash Thakur has proved his bowling prowess by taking 110 wickets in 74 matches of T20 cricket. He has 27 wickets in his name in 22 IPL matches. In first-class cricket, he has taken 93 wickets in 32 matches, while in List A cricket, he has proved his consistency by taking 90 wickets in 57 matches. These figures show that Indian cricket has got a fast bowler for the future who can become an important part of the team’s bowling attack in the coming years.
