‘Yellow alert’ of heavy rain in Delhi today: Warning of waterlogging and traffic jam from Ridge to Janakpuri, know complete weather update.

The movement of clouds and heavy rains are expected to continue in the national capital Delhi on Tuesday (July 28). The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted dense cloudy sky and light to moderate rain throughout the day in Delhi. In view of this weather disturbance, the department has issued a yellow alert for Delhi-NCR. According to IMD, there may be moderate rain in some areas from morning to afternoon, while another round of light to moderate rain may be seen at isolated places during evening and night also. Along with this, strong surface winds are expected to blow at a speed of 15 to 20 kilometers per hour, which will provide relief to people to a great extent from the humidity and heat that has been troubling them for the last several days. Due to this effect of rain and clouds, there will be a significant drop in the temperature of the capital. According to the latest estimate of the Meteorological Department, today the maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to be between 32 to 34 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature may remain around 23 to 25 degrees Celsius. Earlier, the rain on Monday afternoon had also brought great relief to the people of Delhi from the humid heat. Humidity subsided due to Monday’s rain: Know where and how much rainfall was recorded. Monday started with extremely hot and scorching humidity in Delhi. Before the rain, the maximum temperature in Safdarjung had reached 38.1 degrees Celsius, 3.2 degrees above normal. Similarly, the temperature in Palam and Lodhi Road was recorded at 37.2 degrees Celsius, while in Ridge and Ayanagar, the temperature was recorded at 36.4 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature in Safdarjung was also recorded at 28.6 degrees Celsius, 1.3 degrees above normal. However, the weather changed in the afternoon and it rained heavily in many parts. According to Meteorological Department data, the highest rainfall of 19.4 mm was recorded at the Ridge Weather Station till 5:30 pm on Monday evening. Apart from this, 11.5 mm rain was recorded in Lodhi Road, 8 mm in Safdarjung, 4 mm in Pusa, 3.8 mm in Ayanagar and 2 mm in Janakpuri. Areas of Mayur Vihar, Naraina and Najafgarh also received light rainfall, although areas like Palam, Jafarpur and Chhatarpur received no rain on Monday. The Meteorological Department has warned that due to moderate rain on Tuesday, the problem of waterlogging may arise in low-lying areas of Delhi. Due to this, the speed of vehicles may slow down on busy roads during the day and people may have to face traffic delays. IMD has advised the common citizens to check the traffic advisory and route conditions before leaving home and avoid passing through waterlogged roads. If we talk about pollution and air quality, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the 24-hour average Air Quality Index (AQI) of Delhi has been recorded at 101.
