You will get Facebook verified badge for free, cheating cannot be done by creating fake image with AI

Facebook free verified badge Meta: Facebook’s parent company Meta has announced a new feature, after which Facebook users will get a verified badge for free. This badge will protect users from fake accounts. Nowadays fake photos, messages and content etc. are being prepared with the help of artificial intelligence (AI), due to which people are suffering a lot. Meta wants to protect its users from such fake accounts and fraud.

Many fake IDs are being created on social media due to AI. It is becoming difficult for people to differentiate between genuine and fake accounts. To overcome this problem, Facebook has decided to launch the ‘Facebook Verified’ tag, which will make it easier to identify genuine and fake profiles.

What is Free Verification System?

This new feature of Facebook is actually a free verification system. Under this feature, users have to record a short video selfie of themselves. Facebook’s system will then confirm the identity by comparing that video with the user’s existing profile photo.

Badge will be given after completion of verification

The entire process takes only a few minutes. After the verification is successful, the user will get a verified badge (tick mark), which will also appear on his profile.

Where will the verified tick mark appear?

Facebook has confirmed that this verified tick mark badge will appear in places like Facebook Dating, Marketplace, Groups and Profiles.

This feature is currently being made available only to users aged 18 years and above and the company is rolling it out in a phase-wise manner. In the last 1-2 years, cases of creating fake accounts and deepfakes with the help of AI by stealing other people’s photos have increased, to prevent which Meta has taken this important step.
