Ahmedabad, 19 August 2026: 'BRICS Youth Summit and BRICS Youth Council' was inaugurated in Gandhinagar in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi. Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Raksha Khadse was also present in the ceremony.
Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi said, “Youth is not only the future of the country, but is the strong present and biggest strength of the country.” Referring to Gujarat's development journey, he said that the state has made unprecedented progress from charkha to gift city, semiconductor and space technology.
He said that Gujarat's renewable energy capacity has crossed 33.39 GW. An innovation fund of Rs 1000 crore has been allocated under Gujarat STI Policy 2026-31 to promote young entrepreneurs.
Youth representatives from 11 countries participating in the summit will visit the 'Statue of Unity' at Kevadiya. Apart from this, 'Friends of My India' portal was launched during the program and 'Digital Compendium of Volunteering Practices' was released. The Deputy Chief Minister had called upon the youth to participate in building a sustainable and bright future by building strong friendship with the representatives of different countries.
