Bad news from America! 100 percent tariff may be imposed on 4 countries including India and China

Hours after the US Senate voted to advance a bill imposing sanctions on Russia, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked senators for this very important bill. Due to this, 100 percent tariff can be imposed on India and four other countries. Zelensky, who was in Washington (America), went to the US Capitol and watched the voting on the bill from the Senate gallery. Ukraine’s President thanked US senators after the 86-12 procedural vote with support from both parties. He said that Ukraine is grateful for this very important bill and that pressure on Russia with sanctions is very necessary.

Zelensky said that it is not just about money or how Russia will finance this war, but this sanctions bill is also a big signal for Europe. He said that this law is important as a moral signal for a country which is tired, but still stands firm in front of Russia and is performing much better than it. The sanctions bill was put forward by the late US Senator Lindsey Graham, one of Ukraine’s most vocal and influential allies. The purpose of this law is to increase economic pressure on Russia for attacking Ukraine.

The agreement was announced on July 10

The Ukrainian leader said the sanctions bill is the first step towards implementing the late senator’s plans and is certainly a step towards peace. In his Lindsey Graham and Senator Richard Blumenthal announced an agreement with the White House on a Russia sanctions bill on July 10, just a day before Graham’s sudden death. According to an Associated Press report, Blumenthal said that Graham told him in their last conversation just before his death that the agreement they had made was a very big and important deal.

What is the ban bill?

The bill was first introduced in April 2025 and was approved by US President Donald Trump earlier this year despite tensions over the trade deal between New Delhi and Washington.

The bill also creates exemptions for countries that import less than 15 percent of their natural gas from Russia and are taking further steps to reduce those imports. Let us tell you here that for the first time in August 2025, Donald Trump had imposed a penalty on India for buying Russian oil and imposed an additional 25 percent tariff on New Delhi for promoting (Vladimir) Putin’s war. Due to this, the tariff on India increased to 50 percent.

India is the second biggest buyer after China

It is important to mention here that India is the second largest buyer of Russian crude oil after China. If this bill is passed and implemented, it may create challenges for India-US relations. Washington and New Delhi are yet to finalize a bilateral trade deal, which will reduce total tariffs on India to 18 percent.
