Mallikarjun Jalageri, a resident of Torvi Shanti Nagar, had informed the police that his wife Shobha left after an argument over some issue at home. Five children also went with Shobha. After this, people informed the police after seeing the dead bodies of a woman and five children landing in Bhootnal Lake. According to the police, the deceased are 35 year old Shobha, 15 year old daughter Vidya, 13 year old daughter Suvarna, 12 year old son Tipparaya, 10 year old daughter Sanika and 6 year old son Vikas.

On receiving information about dead bodies being dumped in Bhootnal, police reached the spot and removed all the bodies. After which the police sent these bodies to BLDE Hospital for postmortem. It is not yet known whether Shobha committed suicide after pushing the children into the water or whether everyone jumped into the Bhootnal lake together. However, this incident proves that even in domestic disputes, people get so hurt that they do not shy away from even losing their lives.
