New Delhi. A madrasa teacher in Kannur, Kerala has been arrested and sent to jail on serious charges of sexually assaulting a minor student. The name of the accused madrassa teacher is Mohammed Basheer and he is a resident of Muthuvallur in Malappuram district. Whereas the victim student lives in Chokli police station area. It is alleged that Mohammad Bashir sexually abused the student several times for two years. Police said that the accused had repeatedly threatened the child not to tell anyone about this. According to the complaint, the sexual abuse occurred repeatedly when the student was between 11 and 13 years old.
The student was very scared due to being threatened by the Madrasa teacher and he was not able to say anything to anyone about the harassment happening to him. She suffered sexual harassment for almost two years. Later, he gathered courage and told his family about the incident that happened to him. According to the Kannur City Police Commissioner, following a complaint by the victim student, the Chokli police registered a case under the 'Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses' (POCSO) Act and other relevant sections.
After investigation, the police team led by Sub-Inspector Rakesh and Senior Civil Police Officers Rajil and Sabish with the help of Tirur police team arrested the accused. The police produced the accused in the Thalassery POCSO Court, from where he was sent to Kannur Central Jail for 14 days judicial custody. The police is currently investigating in this regard and collecting evidence against the accused. Police are also trying to find out whether the accused madrasa teacher Mohammad Bashir has done similar acts with any other students also.
