PM Modi to Brics Members: 'Technology and essential minerals cannot be used as weapons', PM Modi's harsh words at the BRICS summit

New Delhi. On the second day of the BRICS Summit 2026, PM Narendra Modi again addressed the leaders of the member countries of the organization. Welcoming these leaders into the extended family of BRICS, PM Modi said that this auditorium is connecting different lights and cultures. On this occasion, he also discussed the increasing tension in the world. Also said that for this reason India has stressed on BRICS countries to be prepared to deal with crises. PM Modi said that technology and essential minerals cannot be made “weapons”.

PM Modi said that connecting the cultures of the countries is the result of the growing strength of BRICS, its attractiveness and unprecedented trust. He said that under India's chairmanship, the work of BRICS has been particularly advanced on four points. PM Modi said in his address that these four points are Resilience, Innovation, Co-operation and Sustainability. He said that with the cooperation of BRICS countries, India tried to transform the common thinking in such a way that all the countries benefit. PM Modi said that the increasing tension in the world is directly impacting the lives of common people. He said pandemics, climate change, disasters and supply chain disruptions have shown how interconnected countries are. PM Modi warned the BRICS member countries that a crisis occurring somewhere can affect other countries as well.

PM Modi said in his address that India has stressed on the BRICS member countries to be prepared in advance to deal with such crises. He informed about the consensus among the member countries on creating BRICS Integrated Early Warning System to prevent the spread of infectious diseases. PM Modi also said that Early Warning Data Integration Guidelines have also been prepared to deal with disasters in BRICS countries. PM Modi said that it has been decided to create BRICS MSME Cooperation Portal to connect small businesses with knowledge, finance and new markets. He also informed about the establishment of BRICS Urban Mobility Hub.

PM Modi also informed that the member countries of the organization have created BRICS Digital Center of Excellence for smart grids and energy storage. This will make clean energy reliable, efficient and accessible to all. Centers of Excellence in Agro Ecology and Regenerative Agriculture will link traditional knowledge with modern science. At the same time, the principles developed for community-based climate adaptation will make indigenous knowledge an important basis for climate action. By moving forward on these four pillars, we have tried to promote inclusive global growth through BRICS. PM Modi said that we believe that the benefits of developed solutions should not be limited to BRICS only.

PM Modi said that nature has been given the status of mother in Indian civilization. For centuries we have believed that development and environment are not substitutes for each other, but are complementary. In BRICS also we emphasized on the balance between human development and environment. This is the basis of sustainability and also our responsibility towards future generations.
