Mumbai Fugitive businessman Vijay Mallya continuously claims that the banks have received all his loan dues. Vijay Mallya also claims that the group of banks has recovered more money from the loan and interest. Now the consortium of banks has exposed Vijay Mallya's lies in the Bombay High Court. According to the Economic Times newspaper, the State Bank-led consortium has told the Bombay High Court that Vijay Mallya still owes Rs 8752 crore.

Vijay Mallya, who was the chairman of the defunct Kingfisher Airlines and United Breweries Group, had filed an application in the Bombay High Court in the year 2020. In his application, Vijay Mallya had appealed to end the criminal cases pending against him. Vijay Mallya had said in the petition that the dispute between him and the lending banks has ended. Vijay Mallya told the Bombay High Court that the dispute has ended as the property has been recovered. On this, the Bombay High Court directed the banks to submit the documents related to Vijay Mallya's loan. The consortium of banks led by State Bank submitted documents in the court and said that the debt recovery officer has so far recovered Rs 10270 crore. Rs 544.58 crore was also recovered before the proceedings started in the tribunal.

According to the documents given in the Bombay High Court by the consortium of banks, an amount of Rs 8135.63 crore was owed to Vijay Mallya till January 2026. After adding legal fees and other expenses, the total amount owed to Vijay Mallya comes to Rs 8756.86 crore. The ED, which is investigating Vijay Mallya's loan case, had said that Rs 14132 crore was recovered from the fugitive businessman. At the same time, ED has said in the High Court that recovery of money does not end the PMLA Act. Now the Bombay High Court will hear this matter on October 13.
