11 accused including Tahir Hussain found guilty in Ankit Sharma murder case, case related to 2020 Delhi riots

Tezzbuzz Desk – Delhi’s Karkardooma Court has given a major verdict in the case of the murder of Intelligence Bureau (IB) employee Ankit Sharma during the 2020 North-East Delhi riots. The court has convicted many accused including former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) councilor Tahir Hussain.

Additional Sessions Judge Praveen Singh of Karkardooma Court gave this decision. The court has found Tahir Hussain guilty under many serious sections including murder.

Tahir Hussain convicted under these sections

The court booked Tahir Hussain under Indian Penal Code (IPC) section 188, 153A, 147, 148, 149, 365 and 302 Convicted under.

However, the court acquitted him of the charges under sections 120B and 129 of the IPC.

Apart from Tahir Hussain, the court has also convicted other accused. These include Nazim, Qasim, Shoaib Alam (brother of Tahir Hussain), Javed, Gulfam, Sameer Khan, Hasin alias Mullaji, Anas, Firoz and Muntajmvish alias Musa.

Ankit Sharma was murdered during the 2020 Delhi riots.

This case is related to the riots that took place in North-East Delhi in February 2020. Ankit Sharma was working in the Intelligence Bureau at that time.

On the day of the incident, Ankit Sharma had left the house to collect things, but did not return even after several hours. After this the family had lodged a missing complaint.

Later his body was recovered from a drain near Chand Bagh culvert. He was taken to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

FIR was registered on father’s complaint

FIR 65/2020 was registered at Dayalpur Police Station based on the complaint of Ankit Sharma’s father.

It was alleged in the complaint that Ankit Sharma was murdered by Tahir Hussain and his associates. After police investigation, many people were made accused in this case.

51 injuries were found in the postmortem report

Ankit Sharma’s postmortem report on his body 51 injuries Was mentioned. According to reports, he was injured by sharp weapons.

In March 2023, the trial court had framed charges against Tahir Hussain and other accused under several sections of the IPC. These included murder, rioting, criminal conspiracy and other serious sections.

In this case, except Tahir Hussain, Nazim and Qasim, many other accused had got bail. Whereas Tahir Hussain’s bail plea was rejected by the Delhi High Court in September 2024.
