Neet Ug 2026 Exam Canceled Central Government Takes Major Decision After Rajasthan Paper Leak
The country’s biggest medical entrance exam NEET-UG 2026 has been cancelled. The decision to cancel this examination, held on May 3, was taken after the alleged “guess paper” leak case in Rajasthan. Considering the seriousness of the matter, the Central Government has handed over the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation.
This decision has increased the concern of lakhs of medical candidates and their families across the country. The government has also announced to conduct re-examination so that the confidence of students in the examination system can be restored.
According to the National Testing Agency (NTA), the decision was taken after reviewing inputs received from law enforcement agencies. The agencies had indicated that the examination process may have been compromised and the alleged “guess paper” was circulated before the examination.
In its official statement, NTA said that after looking at the available evidence, the examination cannot be considered valid. The agency said the move was necessary to maintain the transparency and credibility of the national examination system.
The Central Government has now handed over the investigation of the entire matter to the CBI. The investigating agency will find out how the alleged paper was leaked, who were involved in it and whether any organized gang was working behind it. NTA has said that it will provide all records, data and necessary materials to the investigating agency so that the case can be investigated impartially.
NTA has confirmed that the NEET-UG 2026 exam will be conducted again. New exam dates will be announced soon through official channels. The agency acknowledged that re-conducting the examination would cause inconvenience to students and parents, but continuing with the compromised examination would have been more damaging to the education system and the examination system in the long run.
Giving relief to the students, NTA has said that there will be no need to make a new application for re-exam. Only the information and applications already submitted will remain valid.
According to the agency, the existing registration details of the students will remain intact, the previously selected examination centers will remain valid, no additional examination fees will be charged, the fees already deposited will be refunded, new admit cards will be issued before the new examination.
NTA has appealed to the students to avoid rumors and misinformation spreading on social media. The agency said that students should only rely on official updates and continue their preparation as new dates may be announced soon.
NEET is considered one of the most competitive examinations in the country. In such a situation, any kind of paper leak has a direct impact on the future of lakhs of students and the fairness of the examination. After this incident, once again serious questions have been raised on India’s examination security system.
