Former TMC MLA Saukat Molla Arrested In Bhangar Bomb Blast Case Nia Identifies Him As The Key Conspirator

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested former Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Saukat Mollah in the Bhangar bomb blast case of West Bengal. The investigating agency has described Mulla as the main conspirator of the case. In a statement issued on Saturday (June 6), NIA said that Mollah, who was absconding for a long time, was caught from South 24 Parganas district after a massive search operation.

According to the NIA, Saukat Mollah is the MLA from Canning East constituency of the West Bengal Assembly. He is the fourth accused arrested in this case. This explosion took place on March 19 while crude bombs were being prepared. A bomb maker was killed in the accident, while several other people were injured.

During investigation, NIA came to know that former MLA Saukat Mollah had given instructions to other accused to make bombs. The agency claims that after the blast, he had also directed other accused to tamper with the evidence related to the incident site.

According to the NIA statement, before Mollah’s arrest, another accused was also arrested. The man is accused of taking the dead and injured to another place in his Scorpio car after the blast. The investigating agency is currently interrogating the arrested accused to find out whether there was any bigger conspiracy or other people were also involved in this case.

The case was earlier with the state police, but its investigation was handed over to the National Investigation Agency on the request of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). NIA is now thoroughly investigating the entire matter and more revelations are expected in the coming days. However, till the charges are framed in the case and the judicial process is completed, all the allegations are based only on the claims of the investigating agencies.
