According to investigators, 20-year-old Siya Goyal and 22-year-old Chetan Choudhary had planned the murder a long time ago and had also made a long plan so that no one would get suspicious after the crime. Both of them have been arrested for conspiring to murder Ketan Agarwal by pushing him from the hill of Lohagarh Fort on June 18.
According to NDTV, police sources claim that Sia had taken around Rs 1 crore from Ketan in the name of wedding shopping and other wedding related preparations, but instead of using this money for the wedding, she gave the entire amount to Chetan Chaudhary, so that he could make his career and become financially strong.
Investigating agencies believe that this transaction of money was an important part of the alleged conspiracy. According to the police, Chetan belonged to a financially weak family and had told Sia that it would take about three years for him to become financially stable.
It is alleged that both of them had planned that Siya would not marry for three years after Ketan’s death, so that no one would doubt her. When Chetan becomes financially capable and people’s attention regarding the matter also reduces, then both of them will get married.
Police believe that the purpose of delaying the marriage was to make their relationship appear unrelated to the murder and later to gain acceptance from Siya’s family.
The investigation has also revealed the method of committing the murder. According to officials, a fixed signal was set in advance between Sia and Chetan.
According to the police, Siya was asked to sit down on the pretext of drinking water or tying her shoelaces. This would be a signal to Chetan that now is the right time to push Ketan off the cliff.
Investigators say that the second purpose of this sign was to ensure that Siya remained at a safe distance from Ketan, so that Ketan could not catch her while falling.
Call detail records (CDR) are also strengthening the claims of the police. According to sources, Sia had talked to Chetan about 34 minutes before the incident. Police suspect that this conversation was for final confirmation before the murder.
The investigation has also revealed that the murder conspiracy was fully prepared by the end of May and the first attempt to murder Ketan was made on June 14.
It is being told that Ketan was pushed that day, but he managed to save his life by holding on to the nearby bushes. According to police sources, Siya later termed the incident as an accident and said that she had pushed Ketan because she got scared after seeing the snake.
