During the summit, the leaders also signed a protocol amending and adding new provisions to the SCO Charter of 7 June 2002.
SCO leaders approved the rules for the Universal Center for Countering Security Challenges and Threats to deal with member states' security challenges and threats. Apart from this, a document related to the formation and operation of the Executive Committee of the SCO Anti-Narcotics Center was also signed.
At the conference, member countries agreed on a cooperation program to combat drug addiction and drug trafficking by the year 2030. It was also decided to adopt a common strategy to stop the proliferation of synthetic drugs and their chemicals by 2030.
The leaders also approved a plan for cooperation in ensuring international information security for 2026-2028. In addition, joint initiatives on biodiversity conservation and sustainable management were agreed for the period 2026-2031.
SCO member states also signed the Program to Establish Green Technology Corridors (Scientific and Technological Cooperation) for 2026-2030 and the Roadmap for the Development of Ports and Logistics Centers of Member States.
Earlier, while addressing the summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave a strong message against terrorism. He said that terrorism remains a serious challenge for the entire humanity and fighting it cannot be limited to reaction only.
“We have to dismantle the entire system of terrorism financing, recruitment, radicalization and safe havens. There should be no room for double standards on an issue as serious as terrorism,” the Prime Minister said.
He said that countries which make terrorism a tool of their policy and provide shelter and support to terrorists, should be given a clear message that terrorism cannot be a strategic asset for anyone.
