Education is not just a profession but a sacred 'national religion': CM Patel!

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel said on the occasion of Teachers' Day on Saturday that education is not just a profession but a sacred 'national religion', which builds the nation by enhancing the life of an individual. He honored 40 excellent teachers of Gujarat with 'Best Teacher Award' in a function organized in Gandhinagar on the special occasion of 'Teacher's Day' and gave them citation as well as cash prize.

Earlier, the CM celebrated Janmashtami and Teacher's Day by participating in the Krishna Janmotsav celebrations with the villagers at Ranchhodraiji temple in Gandhinagar and contributing to the teachers' welfare fund.

Patel visited the 250-year-old Shri Ranchhodraiji temple and participated in Janmashtami prayers with the people. He performed puja and aarti of the Lord and sought blessings for the peace, prosperity and all-round development of Gujarat.

Temple Mahant Shri Hariram Swami 1008 Mahamandaleshwar blessed the Chief Minister during the visit. The village residents welcomed Patel by gifting them traditional turbans, shawls and souvenirs.

The Chief Minister also offered prayers at Hanumanji temple and greeted people on the occasion of Janmashtami. The festivities were celebrated amid huge participation of devotees in temples across Gujarat, with the highlight of Janmashtami being the birth of Lord Krishna.

After this, the CM celebrated Teacher's Day by making voluntary contribution to the 'Teacher Welfare Fund', honoring the contribution of teachers in education and society. Students from several schools in Gandhinagar reached the Chief Minister's residence in the morning and collected voluntary contributions for the fund.

Patel interacted with the school children who had come to collect donations and also contributed to the fund, carrying forward the tradition of honoring teachers on September 5. In India, Teacher's Day is celebrated on 5 September to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.
