Star Air has decided to suspend its Solapur-Mumbai flight service due to the steep rise in aviation fuel (ATF) prices. The district administration has received a letter in this regard, and District Collector S. Karthikeyan had asked the reason from the company. Star Air has made it clear that due to rising fuel prices, continuing the service is not financially beneficial.
According to Star Air, along with Solapur-Mumbai flight service, flights have also been suspended on Nanded-Mumbai, Belgaum-Mumbai and some routes in Gujarat and Odisha. The aviation sector has been facing many difficulties in the last two years, and the company has said that the rising prices of ATF are having a big impact on it.
The price of aviation fuel in February 2026 was around Rs 60 per liter. This price has increased to around Rs 122 per liter in September 2026. This huge increase in fuel prices has increased the financial burden on Star Air, which is a small airline. Star Air has also told the administration that the company is incurring huge losses every month due to its Solapur-Mumbai flight service. The state government has helped the company in different ways, and increased funding has helped offset some of the losses. However, the company clarified that the huge increase in ATF prices has made it very difficult to continue the service.
