At the foundation day ceremony of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath talked about the journey of the institute, transparency in the recruitment process and expansion of health services in Uttar Pradesh. On this occasion, he enumerated the achievements of his government by comparing the situation before and after 2017.
CM Yogi said, “In the year 2017, the question before all of us was whether it would remain a general hospital or it would be converted into an institute. At that time there was an atmosphere of uncertainty and mutual differences. Then it was decided that it would be converted into an institute. Those who wanted to join the institute would be included in it, while those who wanted to go somewhere else could be transferred to the health department or other hospitals.”
Emphasizing on the transparency of the recruitment process, he said that a wrong recruitment raises questions on the credibility of the entire institution. CM Yogi said, “The more transparent the recruitment process is, the more beneficial the results will be for us.
If we fail to select good people, if there is malpractice in the selection process, discrimination, lack of transparency or honesty, then the entire organization has to pay the lifelong price of its honesty and transparency. An individual makes a mistake, but the institution has to pay the price.”
Referring to the recruitments done during his government's tenure, the Chief Minister said, “In the last 9 to 9.5 years, the government has given government jobs to 9.5 lakh youth in Uttar Pradesh. 9.5 lakh is a very big number. No one can claim that there was any discrimination in their recruitment. No one can say that there was any kind of corruption or money transaction in the recruitment process.”
Describing the geographical importance of RML Institute, CM Yogi Adityanath said, “The location of RML in Lucknow is such that whenever someone from Eastern Uttar Pradesh comes for treatment for the first time, he first reaches this institute. Earlier, a large number of patients who needed regular dialysis used to come here. Today, the facilities here have increased manifold.”
He also shared the experience of his MP tenure regarding the expansion of medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh. The CM said, “Before 2017, I was an MP from Gorakhpur. As an MP, I had often raised the demand that the number of medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh should increase, but their number was not increasing. We had sent a proposal to the Government of India, and when Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister of the country, we also put this proposal before him.”
CM Yogi said that PM Modi took this demand seriously and in the first phase, 17 medical colleges for Uttar Pradesh and one AIIMS for Gorakhpur were approved. Today, there has been unprecedented expansion in the field of medical education in Uttar Pradesh, the general public is directly benefiting from it.
