Asian Games: Halfway through the journey, China crossed the mark of more than 100 gold medals!

Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games: Half the journey has been completed. On 26 September, the Chinese delegation won 9 more gold medals, taking the total medal tally to over 100. The men's football team defeated Thailand 3–0 to reach the Asian Games semi-finals for the first time in 28 years.

The Chinese team of Wang Zifei, Han Chiyu and Chang Liyuan won the women's 50 meter rifle trilateral team event, securing the 100th gold medal for the Chinese delegation in this sport. In the individual event, Han Chiyu broke the Asian record with 359.0 points and she and Chang Liyuan took the top two positions.

In table tennis, the Chinese team won gold and silver medals in the mixed doubles event. Lin Shitong/Khwai Man won their first title by defeating their teammates Wang Chuqin/Sun Yingsha 4–0 in the final, while the latter team failed to win the title for the third time in a row.

The men's singles saw a major upset when 34-year-old Iranian player Nosadi Alamian, ranked 344 in the world, defeated the host nation's star player and world number four Tomokazu Harimoto to knock the Japanese men's singles team out of the tournament.

The Chinese men's team suffered a major setback in the badminton individual events, when Li Shifeng and Shi Yuchi could not even make it to the quarter-finals. Performance in other events remained relatively stable.

The Chinese diving “dream team” featured Chen Yushi/Lu Wei winning gold in the women's synchronized 10-meter platform and Wang Zongyuan/Chang Chuyuan taking the top spot in the men's synchronized 3-meter springboard. Since its first participation at the Games in 1974, the Chinese diving team has won 92 gold medals.

In athletics, Su Wen broke a 36-year-old Asian Games record with a jump of 17.42 meters and won the gold medal in the men's triple jump. Another Chinese athlete, Ma Yinglong, won the bronze medal with a jump of 16.75 metres.
