A very good news has come out for about 2 lakh officers and employees of Madhya Pradesh. All these employees of the state are going to get the benefit of annual increment from the month of July. This will have a direct impact on the salary received in August, which means this time more money will come into the pockets of the employees than before.
This increment is being given under the rules of the seventh pay scale. Under this, there will be a direct increase of 3 percent in the basic pay of the employees. The effect of increase in basic salary is not limited to basic salary only, but its benefit is clearly visible on Dearness Allowance (DA) also. Apart from this, the amount of National Pension System (NPS) or pension contribution also increases, because with the increase in basic salary, the amount deposited under these heads automatically increases. This means that employees are going to get financial benefits in many ways.
Who will get the benefit of July increment?
With this decision, the data of officers and employees who got increment in July has also been revealed. These include about 1 lakh 50 thousand employees and about 50 thousand officers. Thus, overall about 2 lakh officers-employees will get the direct benefit of this July increment. These are those employees and officers, whose appointment or promotion has taken place within a fixed time limit and whose annual increment is linked to the date of July. This is the reason that they will get increased amount in the salary for August.
The rule of increment is decided twice a year
According to government rules, two dates have been fixed for increment of employees in a year – 1 January and 1 July. The increment of every employee depends on one of these two dates. For employees whose appointment or promotion takes place between January 1 and June 30, their increment is considered effective from January 1. The number of employees falling under this category in the state is around 2.25 lakh, who have got the benefit in January itself. At the same time, for those employees who are appointed or promoted between July 1 and December 31, their increment is applicable from July 1. That is why the employees associated with July will now see this increased amount in the salary of August.
The increased amount will vary according to pay level
However, the increased amount received by every employee and officer will not be the same. The main reason for this is that the increment is calculated on the basis of basic salary. The basic salary of employees of different pay levels also varies. Even though everyone's basic pay will increase by only 3 percent, the actual total amount to be received will vary depending on the pay level.
Why has this special system been implemented?
In the seventh pay scale, the provision of giving increments only on two fixed dates in a year (January and July) has been made so that the entire administrative process remains transparent and easy. If different increments are decided according to the joining date of each employee, then it becomes quite complicated at the administrative level. Due to having two fixed dates, departments do not have to go through the increment process again and again, which is convenient for both employees and administration.
Big change will be seen in salary slip
As soon as the salary for the month of August comes, the employees will clearly see this increase in their salary slip. Along with the increase in basic salary, dearness allowance will also increase. Apart from this, the contribution of those whose NPS or pension is cut will also increase. Thus, this increment of July has brought huge financial relief for lakhs of employees of the state.
