MoU signed between Center and State for Jal Jeevan Mission-2.0

Chandigarh. To implement the second phase of Jal Jeevan Mission in Haryana, Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Central Government and the Haryana Government in the presence of Patil and Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini. On behalf of Haryana Government, Commissioner and Secretary of Public Health Engineering Department, Mohammad Shine signed the MoU.

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini participated in the MoU signing program through video conferencing from Chandigarh. On this occasion, Public Health Engineering Minister Ranbir Gangwa, Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi and Deputy Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Yash Pal were present. Naib Singh Saini said that this MoU signed today is very important to take forward the partnership between the state governments and the central government under Jal Jeevan Mission-2.0. Under this, modernization of water storage tanks, connecting the remaining families with pipeline water supply and special projects will be implemented in water stressed areas of South Haryana like Nuh, Palwal and Mahendragarh. There will be an investment of approximately Rs 3000 crore on all these schemes.

The Chief Minister said that in the first phase of Jal Jeevan Mission, the resolution taken by the State Government to ensure continuous supply of tap and adequate drinking water to every household in the rural areas of Haryana has also been realised. When Jal Jeevan Mission was started in the year 2019. At that time, only 58 percent of rural households in Haryana had tap connections, but due to the continuous efforts of the government, on April 6, 2022, the government has achieved 100 percent coverage and made its place among the leading states of the country.

This achievement is a proof of the positive change in the lives of lakhs of families of Haryana. The Chief Minister said that water quality is the top priority for the government and in this direction, NABL accredited state-of-the-art laboratories have been established in all the 23 districts of the state. Also, mobile testing vans have been deployed in remote areas.

On this occasion, Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. joined from New Delhi through video conferencing. Praising Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini, Patil said that Haryana state has done remarkable work under the Jal Jeevan Mission and has done excellent work in achieving 100 percent target in the first phase.
