Stone pelting again in Noida Phase-2: Violent protest demanding salary hike, situation normal after police strictness
Noida: Anarchy was once again seen in the ongoing labor movement demanding salary hike in Gautam Buddha Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh. A day after violent protests on Tuesday, minor stone pelting took place at one or two places in Noida on Wednesday morning.
According to local people, the crowd pelted stones near Guru Amardas International Company at around 9 am, after which the police controlled the situation by lathicharge and dispersed the protesters. Right now the situation is normal. A heavy police force under the leadership of police officers has been marching in the area since morning.
Noida Police Sub-Inspector Mata Prasad Gupta said that the sanitation workers were sitting on strike with their demands. When the police reached to talk to them, some people suddenly started throwing stones at the police, in which many policemen including a sub-inspector were injured.
Police Commissioner’s big revelation
Gautam Buddha Nagar Police Commissioner Lakshmi Singh said that this does not seem to be an ordinary labor movement. An organized gang is instigating the workers and trying to create unrest in a planned manner.
He said that in the last few days many fake Twitter handles and social media accounts have suddenly become active. Apart from this, many new WhatsApp groups were created, where workers are being connected by scanning QR codes. All this indicates that some big network is active behind the scenes.
The Police Commissioner further said, “The government understands the problems of the workers and is fully sympathetic towards them. A decision regarding the wage hike is likely to be taken today. I appeal to all the workers to maintain peace and return to work in their factories.”
strict police action
Police said that route marches are being conducted continuously since 5 am. The crowd that had gathered at three places this morning was dispersed in just 15 minutes. 7 FIRs have been registered in the incidents that took place yesterday and more than 300 people have been arrested.
The police is now also thoroughly investigating the main instigators of the mob, their funding and external links.
