While addressing the House, Shah said that the biggest narrative is being created, a misconception is being spread that these three bills, the Constitution Amendment Bill, the Delimitation Bill and the Act to change the Union Territory Election Law, with their introduction will reduce the capacity of the South in the Lok Sabha and will cause huge loss to our southern states. Citing the example of Karnataka, the Home Minister stressed that the state of Karnataka currently has 28 seats. After this constitutional amendment, the number of seats in Karnataka will increase from 28 to 42. Karnataka will not suffer any loss at all. Shah also clarified that after the delimitation process, the representation capacity of all the states in the Lok Sabha will increase and the proportion of the southern states will remain intact. The government claims that these bills will not reduce the existing strength of any state, but will maintain a balance by increasing the overall Lok Sabha seats.

During the discussion on Delimitation and Women’s Reservation Bill in Parliament, Home Minister Amit Shah clarified that the process of delimitation is completely constitutional. He said that its report will be implemented only when the Parliament accepts it and the President approves it. Clarifying the timeline, Shah said that there is no question of it happening before the 2029 Lok Sabha elections. Meanwhile, he took a dig at Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and said that he need not be afraid of this change, although he will not win, that is a different matter.

He said that he will present the government’s side on this issue tomorrow but today he will give clarification on the lies being spread by the opposition. Presenting the data, Amit Shah said that after delimitation, the total seats in the South will increase from 129 to 195 (Karnataka: 42, Tamil Nadu: 59, Kerala: 30). Shah assured that this system will be implemented before the 2029 elections and the rights of any state will not be taken away. It started with an uproar.

The Central Government presented important bills related to Nari Shakti Vandan Act and delimitation on the table of the House. There was a fierce dispute between the ruling party and the opposition regarding these bills. Due to heavy opposition from the opposition, a voting situation arose in the House. During voting, 251 votes were cast in favor of the government and 185 against it. The surprising thing was that 42 NDA MPs did not participate in the voting process. The government has made a big proposal to give 33 percent reservation to women in the Lok Sabha and Assemblies. Under this, there is a plan to increase the number of members in the Lok Sabha from 543 to 850. For this, the government is preparing for the formation of Delimitation Commission and changes in the Union Territory Law. The opposition is raising questions about this increasing number and the process of delimitation.
