Shock to Pawan Kheda from Supreme Court, refusal to increase transit anticipatory bail

digital desk- Congress leader Pawan Kheda has not got any major relief from the Supreme Court. The apex court has refused to extend his transit anticipatory bail and advised him to directly approach the competent court in Assam. The court clearly said that Kheda can immediately apply for anticipatory bail there and the local court will take a decision independently based on the facts of the case. Actually, Pawan Kheda had appealed to the Supreme Court to extend his transit anticipatory bail till Tuesday, so that he could file a petition in the Assam court. His argument was that at present the Assam court is closed, due to which he needs time. However, the Supreme Court did not accept this argument and refused to increase the bail.

The local court will independently take on the basis of evidence

During the hearing, the court also made it clear that the Assam court will not be influenced by any earlier observation or comment of the Supreme Court while taking the decision in this case. That is, the local court will take the decision completely independently based on the available evidence and facts. This entire matter is related to a complaint filed by the Assam government. Actually, Pawan Kheda had made serious allegations against Rinki Bhuyan Sarma, wife of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Kheda had claimed that the Chief Minister’s wife held multiple passports and also owned properties abroad, which were not mentioned in the election affidavit. After these allegations the matter escalated further.

FIR registered on complaint of CM’s wife

Chief Minister’s wife Rinki Bhuyan Sharma lodged a complaint against Pawan Kheda, on the basis of which Assam Police started investigation. In this connection, a team of Assam Police had earlier reached Kheda’s residence in Delhi, where he was interrogated. This whole matter has also taken a political color, where a round of allegations and counter-allegations is going on between Congress and BJP. Congress is calling Kheda’s statement a political expression, while BJP is considering it as a serious allegation and demanding legal action. After the latest decision of the Supreme Court, now Pawan Kheda will have to approach the Assam court for relief. In the coming days, it will be important to see what stance the local court takes in this case and whether Kheda gets anticipatory bail or not.
