Monsoon Alert – Heavy Rain Warning With Thunderstorms in These States, Know the Update

New Delhi: Significant changes in weather patterns are being observed across various regions of the country due to the movement of pre-monsoon clouds. The rains and accompanying storms have brought a sigh of relief to people suffering from the heat. However, these storms and rains have also inflicted severe damage upon farmers’ wheat crops.

In Uttarakhand and other hilly states, inclement weather conditions are expected to persist, potentially leading to spells of rain. The weather outlook also appears to be deteriorating in the northeastern states. Meanwhile, in several parts of southern India, the weather is once again undergoing a shift. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), warnings for heavy rainfall—accompanied by thunder and lightning—have been issued for several states. Details regarding the specific weather conditions expected in different regions can be found below.

Possibility of Rain in These Regions

According to the Meteorological Department, there is a likelihood of pre-monsoon weather patterns intensifying across Northwest India. The IMD has issued warnings for heavy to moderate rainfall at multiple locations across Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh on April 19, 20, and 21. During these rain spells, strong winds gusting at speeds of 40–50 kilometers per hour are also anticipated. Additionally, a warning for dust storms has been issued for these areas.

Rain Expected in Southern States as Well

The Meteorological Department has issued rain warnings for several states across South India. The IMD has issued an alert for heavy rainfall in Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Puducherry, Yanam, Mahe, Karaikal, and Rayalaseema on April 19, 20, and 21. Along with the rain, winds blowing at speeds of 30–40 kilometers per hour are expected. These regions may also witness hailstorms.

Rain Forecast for These Areas Too

The Meteorological Department has also issued warnings regarding changing weather conditions in Eastern and Central India. The IMD has issued an alert for heavy rainfall across various regions of West Bengal, Sikkim, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Vidarbha on April 19, 20, and 21. These areas are expected to experience strong winds blowing at speeds of 30–50 km/h, accompanied by dust storms and lightning.

Rainfall in Northeast India as well

The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rainfall in Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Tripura on April 19, 20, and 21. A warning has also been issued regarding the occurrence of dust storms with wind speeds ranging from 30 to 50 km/h.
