Mallikarjun Kharge’s tongue slipped again; Called Prime Minister Modi a ‘terrorist’

A new political controversy has arisen due to the controversial statement given by Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Kharge called Prime Minister Modi a ‘terrorist’. He made this comment on the last day of Tamil Nadu Assembly election campaign in protest against AIDMK joining NDA. Voting for the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections is scheduled for April 23 and Tuesday (April 21) was the last day of campaigning. Meanwhile, the Congress President present in Chennai gave this statement in the press conference.

Speaking to reporters in Chennai, Kharge questioned AIDMK’s decision to forge an alliance with the Prime Minister. He said, “How can they (AIDMK) join hands with Modi? He is a terrorist. He does not believe in equality. His party also does not believe in equality and justice. Associating with such people is to weaken democracy. You need such leaders who will not bow down to the BJP but fight tooth and nail. AIDMK has lost its identity and has become a silent ally of the BJP. It cannot protect the interests of Tamil Nadu as it has become a slave to Prime Minister Modi.”

However, Kharge later clarified his statement and said that he did not intend to call the Prime Minister a ‘terrorist’, but what he meant was that he always scares people and political parties.

While campaigning in Tamil Nadu, Kharge also alleged that Modi and Shah had already tried to topple elected governments. “In the last 11 years, they have toppled many governments, bought MLAs and Rajya Sabha MPs. They have used money and power. They are misusing institutions like CBI, ED and the Income Tax Department to conduct raids on political leaders,” he said.

Union Minister Piyush Goyal strongly condemned Kharge’s statement. He said, “It is shameful for the Congress party to stoop to this level. The democratically elected Prime Minister is being called a terrorist. I strongly condemn this statement. They should apologize to the people of India. They have insulted not only the Prime Minister but also the 1.42 billion Indians and Tamil people. The people of Tamil Nadu will never forgive Rahul Gandhi, Kharge and Stalin.”
