Hong Kong action star Sammo Hung makes rare appearance with beauty queen wife at film awards
According to The StarHung, 74, appeared in good spirits as he walked the red carpet on April 19 in a tailored suit paired with a bright floral tie. Though he used a cane, he looked energetic and engaged as he greeted attendees and posed for photos.
Godenzi, 61, who won the Miss Hong Kong 1984 title and has largely stayed out of the public eye in recent years, stood out in a peach-colored evening gown that highlighted her slender figure. The couple appeared relaxed and cheerful throughout the event, according to local media reports.

Their appearance quickly generated buzz online, with many noting Hung’s improved health. The actor has faced mobility challenges since undergoing knee surgery in 2017, after which he relied on a wheelchair and walking stick.
In April 2024, just a day after appearing at that year’s Hong Kong Film Awards, he was spotted grocery shopping alone in Shenzhen, China, using a motorized wheelchair, according to Malaysian outlet Hype.
In a previous interview, Hung credited his wife with helping him maintain his health during his recovery.
“My wife doesn’t allow me to eat much,” he said, as quoted by The Star. “I can eat fatty food, but I have to give up starch.”
Hung is widely regarded as a pivotal figure in martial arts cinema, known for his work as both an actor and action choreographer. He has won the Hong Kong Film Award for Best Action Choreography four times and is recognized for his roles in films such as “The Gambling Ghost,” “The Last Tycoon,” and “Ip Man 2.”
He also served as a fight choreographer for fellow Hong Kong star Jackie Chan.
He married Godenzi in 1995.
