Siddaramaiah ready to step down if Rahul Gandhi asks: Former Karnataka minister Rajanna

Amidst the ongoing tussle over leadership in Karnataka Congress, former minister and Congress MLA K.N. Rajanna has given a shocking statement. He has said that if Rahul Gandhi asks, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is ready to step down from his post. Rajanna is a close aide of CM Siddaramaiah.

Ministers Satish Jarkiholi and H.C., who come from the Dalit community. Mahadevappa has reached Delhi. Both the leaders are demanding to end the ongoing confusion on the issue of leadership in the state. The special thing is that both these leaders are close associates of CM Siddaramaiah.

Rajanna said in Bengaluru on Tuesday that confusion is increasing within the party on the issue of change of leadership. He said that while on one hand Siddaramaiah is ready to continue in the post, he is also ready to step down if the party high command directs him.

Rajanna had earlier claimed that external pressure could be behind Siddaramaiah’s recent silence, but now he said the Chief Minister has taken an open-minded stance on the matter.

According to Rajanna, Siddaramaiah has indicated that he will abide by any decision taken by Rahul Gandhi and expects cooperation from party members.

He said the state would be benefited by resolving the current uncertainty and urged the party leadership not to allow this confusion to continue. Rajanna said that this is not a decision which should be taken in haste, because the future of both the party and the people of Karnataka is at stake in it.

Expressing confidence in the high command, Rajanna said that Siddaramaiah has already made it clear that he will work only as per the instructions of Rahul Gandhi. He said that power does not always remain with one person. Those who lose it can also regain it. In this way, he described the Chief Minister’s thinking as being completely dedicated to the party leadership.

Along with this, Rajanna also said that many leaders (including himself) have given a message to the high command that Siddaramaiah should remain on the post of Chief Minister. Reiterating his stand in favor of making a Dalit Chief Minister, he said that the minorities, backward classes and Dalit communities are not completely satisfied.

He remarked that there is a huge difference between Siddaramaiah’s leadership during 2013-18 and the current term of 2023-26. There are still about two years left for the next elections, so Rajanna said that it would be too early to make any predictions about future developments. He also added that a lot can change with time in politics.
